Touch-a-Truck events around Northwest Suburbs of Chicago 2017

Touch-A-Truck is a great family event for all ages. Children can climb, sit, and explore a variety of cars, trucks and large equipment. Make sure to bring your camera/phone to capture all the fun at those FREE Touch a Truck events in the Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs in 2017!

PALATINE – Big Trucks

10:00 am – 1:00 pm

See trucks and other vehicles up close and even sit in the driver’s seat! Some of the vehicles may include a fire truck, police car, school bus, dump truck, and many more. Bring your camera for lots of photos. Goody bags will be handed out to the first 1,000 people. Vendors will be at the event for participants to visit.

Parking will be available at Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine.

GLENVIEW – 12th Annual Touch A Truck Family Festival

11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Forget the toy trucks – here, children can get a close up look at the real things! Climb aboard many super-sized vehicles in a safe, protected environment. Food, raffles, kiddie train rides, DJ, and other fun and entertainment will be on hand at this family fundraiser sponsored by the Kohl Children’s Museum’s Women’s Board. Note: Event will be held at NIPSTA at 2300 Patriot Boulevard, just north of the Museum. Tickets required.

BLOOMINGDALE – Kite Fly & Touch-A-Truck

10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Contests, raffles, crafts and a mass kite launch highlight the annual Statewide Kite Fly and Touch-A-Truck events 10 a.m. to noon, May 20 at Springfield Park.

Touch-A-Truck features a variety of trucks and vehicles to climb, sit and play on. Parental supervision is required.

MOUNT PROSPECT – Mount Prospect Public Works Open House

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The purpose of the Open House is to show residents the different responsibilities of the Public Works Department in a fun and entertaining way.
The Open House features prizes, a tour of the Public Works facility, rides in the Department’s aerial trucks and street sweepers, a children’s Fun Fact Hunt, and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the Village’s water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets, and vehicles are maintained.  Kids can meet PW Paws, the Mount Prospect Public Works Department mascot.  Refreshments will be provided by the Mount Prospect Lions Club.

HUNTLEY – Touch a Truck

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Get a chance to see, touch and climb through a variety of different vehicles! Bring the entire family to this event and don’t forget your camera. Touch A Truck will take place in the South Parking Lot; which is located behind the Huntley REC Center. This is a FREE event. No registration is necessary. Lots of giveaways!

DES PLAINES – Spring Fun Fair and Touch-a-Truck

10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Touch-A-Truck display is a community event for children of all ages.
Come and experience a variety of trucks that you can see, touch, hear and even climb on certain vehicles.
There will be multiple events scheduled throughout the morning which will draw large amounts of residents and children.
Community Health Fair, Bike Safety Checks, Bike Registration, Pooch, Pet & Pedal Parade, Climbing Wall, Kids 100-Yard Dash.

HANOVER PARK – Touch-A-Truck Festival

9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Each year, the Village of Hanover Park sponsors a Touch-a-Truck event.  The Police Department, Fire Department, and Public Works shine up their vehiclesso attendees can touch the hoods, hear the engines and see the inside of the cars and  trucks that make our community run! There is no cost to attend this event.

Location: Metra Station Parking Lot, Barrington Rd. and Lake St., Hanover Park, IL

The children get to climb, sit and explore a variety of cars and trucks.

New: We will have a quiet hour from 12:30-1:30 pm. Horns and sirens will be silenced during this time.

ROSELLE – Touch-a-Truck

10:0 am – 12:00 pm

Touch-A-Truck puts kids in the driver’s seat, where they can toot a horn of a mighty truck! It is a great opportunity
to spend quality time with your children sharing a fun-filled family day. Inspect the equipment and meet the men and women who operate the big rigs.
Touch, honk,

and climb aboard a variety of specialized vehicles and equipment that are on display. Kids can come and explore their favorite vehicles including semi-trucks, fire engines, police cars, and construction equipment.

This is a FREE family event, and there will be various food trucks on site with food and dessert available for purchase. All children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.

LAKE ZURICH – Blue and You

5:30 pm to 8:30 pm

  • Interact with local law enforcement agencies
  • Learn about police technology and equipment
  • Touch a truck, police vehicles
  • Participate in police activities and demonstrations
Location: Lake Zurich Police Department, 200 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich, IL




9:00 am -11:30 am

We park dozens of “Big Trucks” in the parking lot at Ron Beese Park and then open them up for children to climb in and explore! Fire engines, garbage trucks, village vehicles, tow trucks and more will be on hand to help your children have fun while learning about each truck, watching demonstrations, and climbing behind the wheel. Compete in big wheel races, ride the trackless train and have fun on the inflatable.

STREAMWOOD – Touch-a-Truck

10:00 am to 12:00 pm

This free family event allows you to explore, discover, and climb on various construction, park district, and public works trucks including big rigs, fire engines, bulldozers and more.

Location: Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood – Lower Parking Lot



NILES – Touch a truck

11 am to 1 pm

Children of all ages are invited to explore trucks and equipment of all shapes and sizes from Groot Industries, Midwest Milling & Paving, American Snow Removal, Pace Suburban Bus, and more! They can also enjoy face painting, balloon art, and crafts during this monthly family-friendly event.

Elk Grove Village – Touch a truck

Starts at 10:00 am

Kids can touch, feel, explore and learn about different ‪vehicles at Touch A Truck! Child‬ren will find fire trucks, dump trucks, police trucks and other interesting vehicles to explore in the Pirates’ Cove parking lot. Don’t forget to bring your camera! Free event.
