Summer Festival Guide – June 2017

The summer festival season has started. This is the first guide, featuring June festivals. There will be one guide for each summer month, so it will be easier to look through the listed events. Summer festivals feature music, carnival rides, family fun, art fairs , car shows, fireworks and much more. Enjoy them and make beautiful memories with your family and friends.

June 1-4

Rose Festival in Roselle – Free

Come out and enjoy a family friendly weekend of music, food and fun June 1 through 4, 2017. The Rose Festival will be held at the Roselle Metra Station parking lot at Irving Park Road and Maple Avenue.

Buffalo Grove Art Festival – Free

The fest offers live music, food, art activities for kids, including an art scavenger hunt, and more.

Deerfield Festival of Fine Arts – Free

Fine artists from across the country, food vendors, live music and kids activities. Admission and parking are free.

Country In The Park in Rosemont – Free

MB Financial Park is proud to announce the launch of the “Country in the Park” free summer concert series. The series will feature a variety of country bands along with food and beverage tents on the park’s great lawn.

All “Country in the Park” shows are every Tuesday night starting at 7 p.m. Admission to “Country in the Park” is FREE. Parking is FREE at MB Financial Park with validation from any of the park’s venues.

Franklin Park Fest Featuring Railroad Day – Free
Attractions include walk-on special rail cars and unique train displays, a wide variety of food vendors, a carnival, mini-train rides, a model train display and live music. General admission for Railroad Daze is FREE.

Scottish Festival & Highland Games in Itasca

The 31th ANNUAL SCOTTISH FESTIVAL & HIGHLAND GAMES will feature lots of activities and attractions like the Caber Toss, the Highland Dance,  the 22-pound Hammer Throw, the Dogs of Scotland, and much more. Long Grove Summer Fest/Strawberry Fest

At Historic Downtown Long Grove’s annual Strawberry Festival visitors are invited to enjoy three “berry” special days of decadent strawberry-inspired treats from local merchants and vendors. In addition to three stages of live entertainment programmed by Ravenswood Special Events, Strawberry Fest 2017 will see the return of the renowned Kid Zone, with timeless fun like water balloon toss, flower crown arts, ballroom dancing, and junior knight training.

June 24-25

Civil War Reenactment Weekend in Bensenville

At Civil War Days there will be an opportunity to meet Abraham Lincoln and Sojourner Truth, to hear music, and learn what life was like for ordinary people who lived through a truly extraordinary time. There will be a call for drill in the morning as well as first person presentations throughout the day. Cannon firing 11am, 12pm, 1pm.

Per day admission fee: Adults $5, children under 13 $3. Pay at the gate.

June 28-July 2
Eyes to the Skies Festival in Lisle
The Eyes to the Skies Festival has been selected six times as One of the Country’s Top 100 Tourist Destinations by the American Bus Association. It’s been voted Best Festival by readers of West Suburban Living Magazine and named a member of the Illinois Festival Hall of Fame. Hampton Inn named it as a place to visit in its Year of 1,000 Weekends and the Chicago Centennial Flight Commission selected the festival for inclusion in its 12 Events for 12 Seconds when honoring the 100th anniversary of the first flight by the Wright Brothers.
Very popular festival in the west suburban Lisle, features hot air balloon shows and tethered rides, music, food, crafts, carnival rides, fireworks and much more.
Admission $10 (cash only at the gates but you can buy your tickets in advance on-line). Children 8 and under – FREE.

June 30 – July 4
Northwest Fourth-Fest in Hoffman Estates – Free
The Northwest Fourth-Fest is the northwest Chicago suburb’s biggest Fourth of July celebration. It will include over 40 carnival rides, food and drink tents and an indoor arts and crafts fair. The festival will also include a state-of-the-art fireworks display and live entertainment with performances by local favorites Infinity, Hi Infidelity, 7th Heaven and more.

June 30-July 4

Frontier Days in Arlington Heights – Free

The Festival features free entertainment on three stages, many free family activities in the Family Fun Area and Stage such as: petting zoo, pony rides, pottery fun, reptile show, and much more; carnival rides; and one of the largest Fourth of July Parades in the suburbs.

June 30 – July 4

Bartlett 4th of July Fest – Free

The Bartlett 4th of July Festival includes a carnival with rides and games, food, beverages, FREE entertainment for all ages, bingo, a Turtle Race, a Parade, on site presence for non profit groups, skydivers, fireworks, and a great sense of community pride. On Friday, June 30 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Carnival  offers Private Special Needs Time.
