My favorite season in Chicago is the holiday season. And now there’s one more reason to head to the city – to see the family-friendly play, Ken Ludwig’s ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.
The story follows a girl and her mouse friend who are trying to save Christmas. My one-year-old and two-year-old were enthralled by the set and the characters on stage. The story was over their heads, but the music and dance scenes had their attention. And they were my favorite too!
It was a treat to get dressed up in holiday outfits for a morning in the city. I’m always up for adding a new holiday tradition beyond breakfast with Santa and picking out a tree and this was a fun, family-friendly option.
The play is running now through December 31, 2017 at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place. It is 45 minutes long with no intermission.
If you go this holiday season be prepared for a visit to the American Girl Doll store; it’s unavoidably close to the theater. Shows are at 10 am on Saturdays and Sundays so you might even luck out and find metered street parking before the crowds and tourists venture out for the day (we did!). Please note additional performances are available the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Ken Ludwig’s ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas is best for ages 3 to 13.
