Gather family and friends and enjoy an evening full of fun, fall festivities at Springfield Park. The first 100 children ages 12 and under to pre-register receive a FREE giveaway the day of the event.

Oktoberfest kicks off on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4-11 p.m. for food, fun, music.

Saturday, 1 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Kids portion – Fall Fest)
One of the best FREE fall family events in the suburbs. The fun will include hay rides, pony rides, bounce houses, live entertainment, crafts AND the FAMOUS never-ending trick or treat candy line!

Time: 4 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Join in the fun of celebrating Mount Prospect’s heritage with authentic German food, spirits and music!
Phenix German Band from 6:00pm till 11:00pm

Admission is FREE.

Friday, October 13 at 7:00 pm

The Korthauer Log House can be a little eerie at night, especially so close to Halloween! Take advantage of this perfectly spooky setting and join us for a double feature of scary movies on Friday the 13th right outside of the log house! Be sure to bring your blankets and folding chairs!

7:00 p.m. showing of Frankenweenie is rated PG

NOTE: The program will be relocated inside the Library in inclement weather.

October 14, Noon – 2:00 pm

Celebrate fall at our fun family event. Decorate a pumpkin, play games, make a craft, climb a wall and enjoy live music by Billy Croft & the 5 Alarm from 12:30-2pm.

Pumpkin decorating is free, but we are collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the local food pantry in lieu of fees.

Come early at 10 AM and join us for a community walk around the park, Hoffman Walks.

In the case of inclement weather this event will be held on Sunday, October 15.

October 14, 11 am – 4 pm

Everyone’s invited to come out to Historic Downtown Long Grove Saturday to help build and dress your own scarecrow to be displayed along the streets of Long Grove. This event takes place on Towner Green. A $5 voluntary donation helps cover the costs of the materials and proceeds will benefit local food shelters.

The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business District will provide each guest a basic structure for their scarecrow, bales of straw, and building guidance. Participants are asked to provide “old” clothing, shoes, hats, gloves, and accessories to dress their scarecrow. All of the leftover clothing will be donated. The Scarecrows will be on display throughout the month of October and town visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites.

Fee: $5 voluntary donation

We’ve taken a traditional touch-a-truck event, added a hint of Halloween,and a whole bunch of trucks! Show off your Halloween costume while walking through the aisles of trucks in the Family Aquatic Center parking lot. Bring your trick-or-treat bags to receive candy from the operators at each vehicle. Take some time to ride the hayride or jump in the bounce house.

NEW! Let your furry friend strut their stuff in our Canine Costume Contest.
Canine Contest Fee: $1 (cash only) on the day of the event.

Food will be available for purchase.
This event will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.

Fee: $3, 2 years and younger are free.

Registration required.

Saturday, October 14, 6:10-8:40 pm

Get ready for this family-friendly event throughout Twin Lakes Recreation Area. Hayrides will be taken around the park as a story is read, and s’mores and hot chocolate will be ready for you, as you relax around a bonfire. Dress for the weather! Adults must accompany children. Children 2 years and under are free.

**The 8:10pm Saturday ride will be a scary haunted ride for older participants.

Fee: $5 per person

 

OCTOBER 15

Sunday, October 15, 10 am – 4pm

Join us as we celebrate the season with a special day of autumn fun with storytelling, beekeeping demonstrations, pumpkin painting, honey, hay rides and more! Admission is free; there are small fees for some activities or bring a non-perishable food item to donate to The Greater Chicago Food Depository in exchange for activity tickets. 1 item=1 ticket.
